
Medical Emergencies for Dentists Training
This 4 hour course has been designed to meet the standards set out in the Resuscitation Council guidelines for clinical standards and training. The course covers the recognition and treatment of common medical emergencies happening in Dental Practices, including training in the administration of intramuscular injections.
Many Dental Practices are combining their Basic Life Support training with this Medical Emergency course - providing a 1 day training course with 6.5hrs CPD
Course objectives include:
- Identifying the signs and symptoms of the most likely medical emergencies that may occur in the dental practice
- Demonstrate how to assess an ill patient by using the A,B,C,D,E approach
- Demonstrate an understanding of the appropriate medications that can be administered
- Discuss initial treatment for each emergency
- Demonstrate safe and appropriate administration of medications, including an intramuscular injection
- Discuss when it is appropriate to call an ambulance

- Cardiac emergencies - angine / heart attack
- Asthma
- Epilepsy
- Diabetes
- Anaphylaxis
- Faints
